Easter Greetings, circa 2007

Since the four canonical gospels were made official somewhere around the fourth century, there have been numerous submissions and resurfacings of The Fifth Gospel. Many contemporaries of the original disciples, apostles, or their followers apparently had versions of the story that didn't quite make the cut. The notorious disciple known as "Judas" most recently contributed his side of the story. Rudolph Steiner dipped into the Akashic Records for his take on the tale. Even Kurt Vonnegut gave us his rendition of an alien accounting. See Google for approximately 1,380,000 other references.

So in the interest of upgrading the software for a new millennium, here's a new version of the old story, and for now, we'll call it The Sixth Gospel. That sounds like "The Sixth Sense" too, which also works. This story is based on the writings of Lynda and Adam. It's currently in early manuscript form, and I'm posting a few chapters at gracefulspiral.com, as individual pdf files.

The setting is the cultural center of Jerusalem at the peak of its glory (but fallen under Roman occupation), as well as the surrounding desert and trade routes. The players are Johnny B and JC and those closest to them - as well as those who were in a good position to witness their impact.

The Baptist and the Christ were both great teachers, to say the least, who taught by example and who brought - in tandem - their message of redemption to the common folk of their time. And they had help which has been largely overlooked, or lost completely, in the aggrandizement of our religious belief systems.

The Baptist came from the past, adorned in full prophet regalia, and playing his role beautifully. The Christ, the christened one, came from the future, teaching things that most people of his time - even his own disciples - could barely comprehend.

Perhaps we are ready to hear them today.
